A new X-band radar Sperry Marine 25KW has been installed on the top of the North lighting tower of the Senigallia harbor, at an elevation of about 25 m above the mean sea level, in July 2021.
The radar operates with a frequency in the range 9300-9500 MHz, the radar scale is 2.46NM and the angular sector is 180°N.
The acquired data are elaborated using the REMOCEAN software. The system provides the main wave characteristics: significant wave height, wave direction, wave period and wavelength. The software also gives the surface current field and, under appropriate conditions, the estimated bathymetry. Moreover, the system provides the spatial and temporal reconstruction of the wave height.
